About Hillcrest Farm Bed and Breakfast

Your Hosts Jane & Joe Your hosts Joe Schuckel and Jane Stone look forward to making your visit memorable. Both Joe and Jane grew up in the Cowichan Valley and will be happy to help you plan your stay.

Our heritage farm house was built in the late 1930's by the Dougan family, one of the early valley pioneers. At that time Irwin Dougan had a large poultry farm shipping eggs all over the island and to the mainland. Presently Hillcrest Farm is a small working farm with horses, chickens and a pet pot bellied pig.

Joe Running a Marathon Joe is a professional chef, who graduated with top honours and a gold medal through Malispina Culinary Arts Program. He has been cooking for large groups for decades and professionally for six years. Joe's many course dinners and other catered offsite meals are valley famous. Joe is also a long distance runner with 14 marathons so far, Boston Marathon two times. Joe is very familiar with the valley and would be quite happy to suggest routes for running, biking or hiking.

Jane on a jump Jane has spent a lifetime training and competing in Three-Day Eventing with National level experience. Jane is an Equine Canada certified Level 3 coach and trains local riders as well as traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest to coach clinics. There are usually several horses at the farm in training and usually a young foal each spring. Jane will be happy to give you a tour of the farm and introduce you to the animals.
